ISIDOG 2025: 6th ISIDOG Conference in Belgrade, Serbia, from 23rd to 26th October 2025

6th ISIDOG Congress – Belgrade 2025 // Aftermath

October 23–26, 2025 | Sava Centar, Belgrade, Serbia

The 6th International Society for Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISIDOG) Congress brought together leading experts, researchers, and clinicians from across the world to discuss the latest advances in infectious diseases affecting women’s health, fertility, pregnancy, and neonatal outcomes.

A detailed overview of all oral and poster presentations can be found in the official ISIDOG 2025 Abstract Book.

Scientific Highlights

Main topics included:

  • Bacterial Vaginosis & Aerobic Vaginitis:
Cutting-edge research explored the role of the vaginal microbiome, biofilms, and nutritional immunity in bacterial vaginosis (BV). Novel studies from Belgium, Poland, and the U.S. revealed how zinc sequestration mechanisms and Prevotella species contribute to BV development.

  • HPV and Oncological Infections:
Sessions covered HPV genotyping, the oncogenic potential of high-risk strains, and the impact of the vaginal microbiome on HPV persistence. New insights from the Isala Project highlighted microbiome patterns linked to viral clearance and cancer prevention.

  • Vaccines and Viral Infections in Pregnancy:
Researchers presented updates on RSV, Group B Streptococcus (GBS), and Candida vaccines. The CandV01 vaccine trial for recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis demonstrated promising safety results in its first human phase.

  • Infections in Pregnancy:
Global studies addressed CMV, parvovirus, and mycoplasma infections in pregnancy, as well as innovative approaches such as vaginal microbiota transplantation and probiotic therapy.

  • HPV-Related Cancer Prevention:
Clinical results showed potential benefits of Ganoderma lucidum extracts for HPV clearance after surgical treatment of cervical dysplasia. A systematic review also identified vaginal dysbiosis as a hallmark of endometrial cancer.

Poster & Oral Presentations

Over 40 oral and poster presentations showcased international research from Europe, Asia, and Africa, focusing on:

  • Vaginal microbiota and pregnancy outcomes

  • Diagnostic innovations in bacterial vaginosis

  • Global epidemiology of vulvovaginal candidiasis

  • Emerging therapeutic and diagnostic technologies
